With midterm elections just over two weeks away, the No Kings movement will host more than 3,000 events nationwide on Saturday – including multiple events in West Virginia. There are demonstrations from Charles Town to Charleston. This year the organization has focused on voter mobilization rather.

Sara Lindstrom is the president of United West Virginia, one of the organizers of a No Kings: Vote Early rally at the State Capitol on Saturday.

“We’re wanting to accomplish a voter turnout that’s a lot better than the pathetic 20% we had in the primary,” Lindstrom said. “That tells us that a lot of people are not participating in our democracy. And democracy only works when the citizens participate.”

Millions have turned out in cities from coast to coast for No Kings rallies that began last year as a protest to President Donald Trump and the actions of his administration.

Events in West Virginia Saturday include:

  • Charleston: A “No Kings: Vote Early” rally at the West Virginia State Capitol (1900 Kanawha Blvd E) from Noon to 2 p.m. Eastern, hosted by community and coalition groups.
  • Wheeling: A “No Kings: Vote” rally in the Elm Grove neighborhood.
  • Berkeley Springs: A local “No Kings: Vote Early” community gathering.
  • Mineral Wells: A “No Kings: Vote Early” Bridge Brigade event.
  • Vienna: A local “No Kings: Vote Early” community event.
  • Pocahontas County: A local voter-awareness and early-voting gathering.
