West Virginia’s unemployment rate edged up slightly in June.
WorkForce West Virginia reported Tuesday that that state’s seasonally adjusted jobless rate increased two-tenths of a percentage point last month for a rate of 7.4 percent. That’s more than 2 full percentage points above the national average of 5.3 percent.
Total nonfarm employment decreased by 4,500 in June, with the service sector accounting for 3,000 of those jobs.
Since last June, total nonfarm payroll employment has decreased by 8,800.
