ARC Seeking Applicants For Regional Development Projects

The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), will soon be accepting applications for a program designed to propel large-scale, collaborative projects that yield regional economic transformation.

Successful submissions for the Appalachian Regional Initiative for Stronger Economies (ARISE), program must include at least two Appalachian states, support regional business and industry, and develop new opportunities across economic sectors. 

In the 13 states that ARC serves, ARISE projects are projected to have created or continued more than 22,000 jobs and helped nearly 16,000 workers and students prepare for broadband development, workforce education and manufacturing opportunities. 

The initiative supports projects that are “designed to result in transformative outcomes for the Appalachian states” as well as strengthening of the entire region, said ARC Federal Co-Chair Gayle Manchin in a press release.

ARISE was established in 2022. Since then, ARC has invested $179.5 million in 68 economic development opportunities.
