On this week’s broadcast of Mountain Stage, host Kathy Mattea dives into some of our favorite archival sets from 2006. You’ll hear performances by The Derek Trucks Band, Bettye LaVette, Soulive (featuring Reggie Watts), Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, and more, all recorded live on Mountain Stage twenty years ago.
Our Song of the Week is Judith Owen’s jazz-infused cover of “Eye of the Tiger.” Originally written by Frankie Sullivan and Jim Peterik, and made popular by the rock band Survivor, this live rendition of the hit song was recorded at the WVU Canady Creative Arts Center in Morgantown, WV.
Tune in to one of these affiliate stations starting Friday, May 15 to hear this song, plus more by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, The Roches, Chris Smither, Vic Chesnutt, Soulive (featuring Reggie Watts), Bettye Lavette, and The Derek Trucks Band.
