On this week’s premiere broadcast of Mountain Stage, guest host David Mayfield welcomes The Band of Heathens, Donna the Buffalo, Della Mae, and Billie Marten.
Our Song of the Week is “Hurricane” from The Band of Heathens’ fourth appearance on Mountain Stage. The song appeared on their 2011 album Top Hat Crown & The Clapmaster’s Son, and enjoyed a resurgence in popularity years after its release, eventually reaching platinum certification. “Hurricane” was written by Keith Stegall, Stewart Harris, and Thomas Schuyler, and released by Levon Helm on his 1980 album American Son.
