The Greenbrier has reached a new contract agreement with workers represented by the Greenbrier Council of Labor Unions (GCLU) and affiliated labor organizations, the company announced Wednesday.
The iconic hotel and resort, located in Greenbrier County, employed more than 600 union-represented workers as of 2022, according to a union press release at the time.
Specific terms of the new contract have not yet been released. The most recent contract was ratified in May 2022, and included provisions like an immediate wage increase, an annual wage increase over three years and enhanced employee benefits, according to the 2022 press release.
Representatives for the GCLU and The Greenbrier Hotel Corporation did not immediately respond to email requests for comment on this story.
The Greenbrier has been owned and operated by the family of U.S. Sen. Jim Justice, R-W.Va., since 2009.
Last year, the company came under scrutiny for falling behind on payments for its employee health care plan and defaulting on a loan held by Beltway Capital Management. Both issues were later resolved.
Jay Justice, chairman of The Greenbrier, said in the Wednesday press release the company was “pleased to have reached a mutually beneficial agreement” with the union.
“This extension reflects our ongoing commitment to our dedicated union team members and to the continued success of the resort,” he said.
