Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-VT, will visit West Virginia next week as part of his Fighting Oligarchy: Where We Go From Here Tour.
He will speak in Wheeling Friday, Aug. 8 at the Capitol Theatre before speaking in Charleston Saturday, Aug. 9 at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. for both events, with the speaking program starting at 6:00 p.m.
Sanders will also hold a town hall in Lenore, Mingo County Saturday afternoon.
The tour has taken him across the country to discuss what a press release calls “the takeover of the national government by billionaires and large corporations, and the country’s move toward authoritarianism.”
The Fighting Oligarchy Tour has hosted 24 rallies across 15 states including Iowa, Michigan, and Texas. The West Virginia stops are Sanders’ first since the passage of President Donald Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill.” He will also make stops in North Carolina on this leg of the tour.
Sanders is also recruiting progressive candidates to run for office, and training organizers across the country.
Tickets are not required for any of the events, but RSVPs are strongly encouraged at the links above.
