Businesses planning to relocate to West Virginia are looking for locations that are ready to build, according to Gov. Patrick Morrisey. Today, he passed out grants to get several projects started.

Speaking from the unincorporated community of Caldwell in Greenbrier County, Morrisey announced seven new $75,000 site readiness grants for six counties.

The grants will go to Greenbrier, Randolph, Mingo, Cabell and Lincoln counties and $75,000 for the Business Development Corporation of the Northern Panhandle.

“A lot of what businesses want is they want to make sure that when they are coming to a state, they have sites that are ready to be activated, that can be put into place, to bring business to bear right away,” Morrisey said.

Morrisey said the funds are being awarded through the Ready Sites Program and will be used for engineering or architectural needs related to the sites, including studies that need to be completed to begin development.

The grants are:

  • Greenbrier Valley Economic Development Corporation – $75,000 to develop the Harts Run Site located in Greenbrier County.
  • Randolph County Development Authority – $75,000 to support site readiness efforts for the Randolph Development District Industrial Park.
  • Mingo County Redevelopment Authority – $75,000 to support site readiness efforts for the Mingo County Air Transportation Park and $75,000 for the Harless Industrial Park.
  • Huntington Area Development Council – $75,000 to develop the Aldridge Site located in Cabell County.
  • Lincoln Economic Development Authority – $75,000 to support site readiness efforts for the Lincoln Business Park.
  • Business Development Corporation of the Northern Panhandle – $75,000 to support site readiness efforts for the Beech Bottom Industrial Park located in Brooke County.
