Public Comment Events Set For Electric Transmission Lines 

The Mid-Atlantic Resiliency Link (MARL) would connect power stations in southwestern Pennsylvania to a substation in Virginia via 105 miles of 500 kV transmission lines, crossing through four West Virginia counties: Monongalia, Preston, Mineral and Hampshire.   

The Public Service Commission of West Virginia scheduled four public comment hearings for June on the transmission line proposed by NextEra Energy Transmission.  

The public comment events are reserved for nonparties to the case, as opposed to those who have applied to be legal interveners in the case.   

They will be held: 

• June 4, Potomac State College, Davis Conference Center, 101 Fort Ave. Keyser 

• June 5, Hampshire County Courthouse Courtroom, 2nd Floor, 19 East Main St., Romney 

• June 10, Mylan Park Show Room, 500 Mylan Park Lane, Morgantown 

• June 11, Kingwood Civic Center, 311 Tunnelton St., Kingwood. 

Each public comment session is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

The commission reports it has already received a number of comments in support and in protest of the MARL. 

 The project has been approved by regional transmission operator PJM but still requires state regulatory approval.   

The commission set regulatory hearing dates for late October and early November, with a decision due date of March 6, 2027.
