West Virginia’s Attorney General sent a letter to Washington this week outlining ways to dismantle the Obama Administration’s plan to limit carbon pollution.

Patrick Morrisey along with officials from Ohio, Kentucky, and 21 other states signed a letter addressed to Vice President-elect Mike Pence, Senate President Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Paul Ryan.

The letter suggests the incoming administration issue an executive order “on day one” vowing not to enforce proposed carbon regulations. It also suggests withdrawing the Clean Power Plan rule, and ending ongoing litigation surrounding the rule. Finally, the letter recommends adopting legislation that would ensure no similar rules are ever attempted.

The Clean Power Plan is the Obama administration’s signature policy to combat climate change by limiting the greenhouse gas emissions from power plants.
