Federal officials say more than 11,000 West Virginia residents have signed up for the health insurance marketplace during the open enrollment period that began Nov. 1.
Open enrollment runs through Jan. 31. However, people who need coverage starting Jan. 1 face a Dec. 15 deadline for signing up.
The figures announced Wednesday include new consumers and consumers returning to shop for private health insurance plans sold on Healthcare.gov.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says 59 percent of West Virginian enrollees can finds plans for $75 or less per month after tax credits. Nationwide, about 80 percent of enrollees qualify for financial help to make their premiums more affordable.

The funding will help the West Virginia State Police increase the number of eligible DNA samples analyzed for entry into a federal database and will also help reduce turnaround times for forensic cases involving DNA evidence and prevent backlogs of forensic and DNA database samples.

While Miller was never trained to fight, he raced to the deck on the day of the attack and fought back - shooting down at least one enemy plane. In 2020, a new aircraft was commissioned by the U.S. Navy and named for Miller. But recent stories have surfaced with talk of renaming it after President Donald Trump. We speak with Scott Womack, the commander of American Legion Post 100 in Monroe, West Virginia, to discuss the group’s recent resolution that the Navy should retain Miller’s name on the ship.
