Broadcast from 1am-5am Saturday and Sunday mornings here on West Virginia Public Broadcasting, Mountain Stage After Midnight takes the best episodes from the show’s 32 year history and shares their memories and songs with our late-night listeners.
Set your alarms for late Saturday August 15 and Sunday August 16 for Mountain Stage After Midnight.
We’ll hear an August 2006 show from the University of Georgia’s Performing Arts Center in Athens. It features Vic Chesnutt, The Modern Skirts, Tin Cup Prophette, Carbon Leaf, Garrison Starr and Aslyn.
We’ll also hear an August 2007 show from the Paramount Arts Center in Ashland, Kentucky. It features Kim Richey, Tab Benoit, Anders Osborne, Ritch Collins Three-O and Eilen Jewell.

Mountain Stage is changing locations for its final two live events of 2026. The Sunday, Nov. 15 show will now take place at the Charleston Theater at the Convention Center, and the Sunday, Dec. 6 show will be held at the Capitol Theater in Downtown Charleston.

Dolly — everyone called her Dolly — was a Tennessee native, country and pop music singer, and philanthropist who invested heavily in people – especially here in Appalachia. And in children’s literacy through her Imagination Library, which provides free books to young kids. To a lot of people, she was Appalachia. To mark her passing, Inside Appalachia Host Mason Adams spoke with Ted Olson, a country music historian at East Tennessee State University’s Department for Appalachian Studies.
