Best Virginia will make its second-ever appearance in the Final Four of The Basketball Tournament (TBT), an open-invitation, single-elimination tournament played each summer since 2014.

The team, made up primarily of former West Virginia University basketball players, is two games away from taking home TBT’s $1 million, winner-take-all prize. Best Virginia previously played in the semifinals in 2022, their best TBT finish to date.

They will face off against team Eberlein Drive at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center Thursday, July 31 at 6 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on Fox Sports channel FS1. Eberlein Drive – one of the two remaining teams to play in every year of TBT – also played in the semifinals last year and were runners-up in 2018.

Best Virginia, along with Marshall University alumni team Herd That, have been regional hosts at the Coliseum since the tournament kicked off July 18. Best Virginia eliminated Herd That in the second round of play July 20.

If Best Virginia wins Thursday, they will advance to the championship game Aug. 3, and could end up hosting the game.

This year, TBT has introduced a ‘home court advantage’ rule that as long as regional hosts win, they will play at home. Wichita State University alumni team and Kansas City host AfterShock is also in the semifinals. If both Best Virginia and AfterShock advance to the championship, AfterShock will host due to a tiebreaker based on ticket sales.
