This week’s premiere broadcast of Mountain Stage comes to you live from the historic Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center in Clarksburg, WV. Guest host David Mayfield welcomes Robert Randolph, Carolyn Wonderland, Nellie McKay, and Patty Larkin.
Our Song of the Week is “Suitcase Song,” performed by stylistic chameleon Nellie McKay. Originally featured on Nellie’s 2004 debut album, Get Away from Me, “Suitcase Song” was rereleased on Gee Whiz: The Get Away from Me Demos, earlier this year. The album features 18 previously unissued demos mirroring Nellie’s critically acclaimed debut, produced by legendary Beatles engineer and producer Geoff Emerick.
Elsewhere on this week’s episode, you’ll also hear live performances by pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph, award-winning Texas blues singer and guitarist Carolyn Wonderland, and Boston-based singer-songwriter and guitarist Patty Larkin.
