After a six-year hiatus, the West Virginia International Film Festival is returning to Charleston this weekend.
The festival will screen films Saturday and Sunday at the Park Place Cinemas and the Floralee Hark Cohen Cinema.
Films come from countries including Norway, China and Brazil as well as American films including the seminal 2000 documentary “Stranger With a Camera.”
There will also be screenings of West Virginia films including a short documentary on Blenko Glass and a short narrative film about a home healthcare worker. Two filmmaker workshops, a trivia night and a brunch meetup round out the weekend’s offerings.
Founded in 1985, the West Virginia International Film Festival is celebrating its 40th year.
The commission will be chaired by Tourism Secretary Chelsea Ruby with members to be announced in the coming weeks.
