On Sunday June 24 Mountain Stage will once again be a part of FestivALL Charleston, the city-wide celebration of the arts in our hometown of Charleston, WV. Iconic songwriters Dave Alvin& Jimmie Dale Gilmore, and Vermont’s emerging soul-music star Kat Wright, have already been announced. Today we’re adding the next round of artists, and our next guest-host.
The Wood Brothers, who released “One Drop of Truth” in February, will return for their third appearance on Mountain Stage on June 24. Also, just announced, our favorite bare-foot and folk-singing hippie, author and jam band singer Todd Snider will return to Mountain Stage as well. By our best estimate, this will make Todd’s 15th appearance on the show since 1995.
We’re excited to announce that singer, songwriter and guitarist Peter Mulvey will be stepping up to the microphone as our special guest-host. Mulvey has a recurring gig at the National Youth Science Camp, located in West Virginia, which led to a spoken word piece, “Vlad the Astrophysicist”, which became aTEDx talk, and then an illustrated book. Mulvey performed “Vlad” when he made his most recent appearance on Mountain Stage last September in Morgantown, WV.
Tickets for this show are already available online, by phone at 877.987.6487 or locally at Taylor Books in Downtown Charleston. This show will likely sell out, so we recommend getting your tickets soon.
Elsewhere, we’ve added songwriter Caitlyn Smith and #NPRSlingshot artist Haley Heynderickx to the line-up for Sunday June 3, alongside Lee Ann Womack. Tickets for that event are on sale, and already selling well.
Smith is breaking out on her own with her debut album called “Starfire,”after having cuts recorded by Garth Brooks and Meghan Trainor. She will join us just two days after opening for Tim McGraw & Faith Hill at the nearby Charleston Civic Center.

Heynderickx was chosen in the first round of NPR Music’s Slingshot initiative which introduced listeners to her enthralling psych-folk, now fully realized on her powerful debut full-length “I Need To Start A Garden.” Hear for yourself below, and come see the real thing in action June 3.
We’d love to have you in the audience sometime, so visit our friends at the WV Tourism Office and the Charleston, WV CVB, request your travel guides, and plan a trip to see what #AlmostHeaven is all about.
