[CHARLESTON, WV] – West Virginia Public Broadcasting’s (WVPB) Us & Them Podcast has received two awards in the Radio Television Digital News Association’s (RTDNA) 2025 Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards.
Us & Them, which is hosted by Trey Kay, was honored for two episodes — Us & Them: Post-Election Politics Can Be A Bit Tough To Swallow, (Excellence in Innovation), and Us & Them: Another Small Town Paper Down, (News Documentary). Regional winners automatically move on to the national round for consideration.
The Radio Television Digital News Association has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Regional award recipients have demonstrated the spirit of excellence that Murrow set as a standard for the profession of broadcast and digital journalism. WVPB competes in Region 8 — Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia.
Executive Director Eddie Isom said the two Regional Murrow Awards come as Us & Them celebrates 10 years on WVPB radio and digital. “Two Regional Murrow awards for innovation and documentary excellence is quite an honor,” Isom said. “We are proud of Trey Kay and his team for their thoughtful approach to really tough issues that cause culture divides in West Virginia and beyond.”
Episodes of Us & Them drop twice a month on wvpublic.org with the second episode airing on WVPB’s statewide radio network on the fourth Thursday (8 p.m.) and Saturday (3 p.m.) of the month. Shows are also distributed by PRX, Public Radio Exchange and are accessible anywhere podcasts are available.
