Judith Owen, the jazzy Welsh vocalist (and self-described “drama queen”) has our Song of the Week. Judith performed the cult classic, “I Put A Spell On You,” originally recorded in 1956 by “Screamin’ Jay” Hawkins and famously interpreted by Nina Simone, accompanied by her all-star band of New Orleans musicians, “The Callers.” Owen’s version of the song also appears on her 16-track live album, Judith Owen Comes Alive, recorded in Bern, Switzerland.
Tune in to one of our affiliate stations starting Friday, June 27 to hear the full episode with host Kathy Mattea, plus more live performances by alt-pop singer-songwriter Madi Diaz, indie folk group The Dead Tongues, southern soul/funk/bluegrass maverick Swamp Dogg, and singer-songwriter, actor, and comedian Tim Heidecker.
