Yeager Airport Monitoring Creek Following Additional Slip

Yeager Airport is monitoring a creek partially obstructed by debris from a recent hillside slip.

Airport spokesman Mike Plante says the airport opened its emergency operations Center around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A portion of a manmade emergency over-run area at the end of airport’s runway collapsed on March 12. Material at the top of the hillside fell last week.

Plante says the hillside’s movement pushed material at the bottom of the slip toward Elk Two-Mile Creek, causing a partial obstruction.

He says engineers and contractors are developing a plan to remove the debris.
