On Friday, West Virginia University announced the initial recommendations for cuts to academic programs to address an estimated $45 million budget shortfall for fiscal year 2024. The recommended cuts - which include the complete dissolution of the World Languages Department - are part of a larger transformational process the university has been undergoing for several years.
