Ella Hanshaw was a singer and songwriter who grew up and lived in West Virginia before moving to Ohio. She passed away in 2020. The collection Ella Hanshaw’s Black Book came about in part because of Hanshaw’s granddaughter, Kelly Kerney. Inside Appalachia Host Mason Adams spoke with her recently about the release.
