Mineral County, in the Eastern Panhandle near the Maryland-West Virginia border, is under a State of Emergency due to severe storms and heavy rains that resulted in flash flooding Tuesday evening.
Gov. Patrick Morrisey made the declaration Tuesday, which will remain in effect for up to 30 days.
Morrisey ordered personnel and resources to mobilize and respond as needed, and delegated administrative powers to the director of the West Virginia Emergency Management Division to help provide essential emergency services.
