West Virginia was among the top-10 states in 2024 for growth in clean energy jobs.

That’s according to E2, a national policy group that promotes clean economic policies.

Clean energy jobs in West Virginia grew nearly 5% in 2024, putting it between Texas and Florida, which were top-10 states in all categories E2 measured.

West Virginia had just under 11,000 clean energy jobs last year. That includes renewable generation, storage and grid, energy efficiency, biofuels, and clean vehicles.

West Virginia was also a top-10 state in the growth of renewable generation jobs in 2024.

The number of jobs in wind, solar, geothermal, bioenergy and hydropower grew by almost 8%.

Nationwide, renewable generation jobs vastly outnumbered those in fossil fuel generation.
