There will be a national spotlight on Fairmont State University this weekend.

Amazon Prime’s popular streaming series “The College Tour” will feature Fairmont’s campus, student population and curriculum – from national security and cyber security to lesser-known programs that aren’t offered everywhere, like aviation and outdoor recreation.

It’s a chance for potential students far beyond the borders of West Virginia to find out about a college that isn’t as well-known as flagship universities.

“We’re going to be able to show people the opportunities and potential that they would have here, because we know that Fairmont is not necessarily on the tip of everybody’s tongue,” university Vice-President George Wolf said.

With an undergraduate population of roughly 3,400 students, “We can offer very personalized education in all of our different academic programs, but still, we have the accessibility of being a public university and it’s not super expensive,” Wolf said.

The students, he added, are “pumped up.” With the school colors in mind, the Fighting Falcons campus is planning a Hollywood, maroon-carpet style event to celebrate Saturday’s premiere.

The episode will be available on Amazon Prime and will be shown in the Falcon Center Gym at 4 p.m.
