Police in Wheeling say a report of armed suspects in a neighborhood turned out to be a couple of high school students with squirt guns playing a game called “Assassins.”
Detective Gregg McKenzie told media that officers were called to the Clator area Wednesday morning by a concerned homeowner who said she saw two males exit a vehicle with guns. Officers canvassed the area and found two boys armed with squirt guns crouching behind a vehicle.
McKenzie said while the incident was resolved peacefully, he worries that similar situations could lead to serious confrontations.
He warned parents that the game could have lethal consequences, especially since some of the squirt guns resemble real weapons.
