A lot has happened since Maestro André Raphel last took the stage with the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra (WSO) — a pandemic, a conductor search, and many, many concerts. Raphel, who served as music director of the WSO from 2003-2018, will be taking the podium once again at the Capitol Theater in Wheeling on Thursday, May 15 to conduct La Valse by Maurice Ravel, to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the WSO as well as the 150th anniversary of the birth of Ravel.

Raphel has kept busy since his completing his tenure with the WSO, serving as Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the Hudson Valley Symphony Orchestra as of last year. He performed with the Boston Symphony in 2023, and he will be heading to Germany this June for his Berlin debut to conduct the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin.
