West Virginia residents affected by flooding in June have until Wednesday to apply for federal assistance.
The Federal Emergency Management Administration said that is the deadline to apply for disaster assistance from FEMA and to submit applications for loans to the U.S. Small Business Administration.
FEMA said in a news release that nearly 8,800 households have applied to FEMA for help since President Barack Obama issued a disaster declaration for residents of Clay, Fayette, Greenbrier, Jackson, Kanawha, Lincoln, Monroe, Nicholas, Pocahontas, Roane, Summers and Webster counties.

The June floods killed 23 people and destroyed homes, businesses and infrastructure.
