Marshall University has received a $432,369 federal grant for cancer research.
The three-year grant from the National Cancer Institute will be used to launch a cancer biology research project in epigenetics. Epigenetics is the study of heritable changes in gene function that do not involve changes in DNA sequence.
Rep. Nick Rahall and U.S. Senators Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin announced the grant on Thursday.
Rockefeller says in a news release that the grant will help build on cutting-edge research being conducted at Marshall.
