State health leaders want recipients of rural health funding to be well informed to ensure statewide success.

Dr. Arvin Singh, secretary of Health, led a detailed webinar Tuesday afternoon outlining the requirements to apply for, and administer, Rural Health Transformation funding.

The state’s nearly $200 million award for 2026 aims to strengthen rural health systems statewide with enhanced access to care, support for the recruitment and retention of the healthcare workforce and expanded telehealth services.

Singh said ensuring that recipients of funds are aligned with the program’s goals and compliant with federal reporting requirements will ensure continued funding and the best outcomes for all West Virginians.

“We all know all too well, we rank at the bottom of a lot of those metrics, and to here, today, have the resources to potentially impact that and positively move our state away from that is a blessing,” he said.

Application timelines will vary but are expected to open in the coming weeks.
