Thousands Cast Early Ballots Ahead Of May 12 Primary

All 55 counties in West Virginia had polling locations open April 29 - May 6 for early voting in the state's upcoming primary election.

More than 33,000 in-person ballots have been cast in the first full week of early voting for West Virginia’s upcoming primary election. 

Secretary of State Kris Warner said all 55 counties had open polling locations April 29 through this Wednesday, May 6.  

As of the close of business on Tuesday, 2,441 mail-in ballots had been received, bringing the total number of votes cast so far to 35,579.  

There are roughly 1.2 million West Virginia voters registered to participate in the May 12 election.  

Early voting continues through May 9. Click here for a list of early voting locations statewide. Some counties still need poll workers and alternates. Registered voters can contact their county clerk or visit GoVoteWV.com and click on “Become a Poll Worker” to complete an application.
