Preliminary figures indicate fall enrollment at Marshall University is on track to increase for the third consecutive year.
President Brad Smith told a meeting of the Marshall Board of Governors Tuesday that total enrollment over three years has increased 15%.
“After reversing a 13-year decline in enrollment, we are now entering our third year and it looks like total enrollment, when you put all three years together, will be up around 15%,” Smith said. “Year-over-year, we will see a single digit increase, but together over three years a 15% increase, which is a wonderful testament to this entire campus and everyone working together.”
The enrollment increases raised questions about on-campus housing capacity, but Brandi Jacobs-Jones, senior vice president for operations, told the board that all students who want to live on campus will be accommodated.
West Virginia University also announced Wednesday the hiring of Fabrizio D’Aloisio as vice president for WVU Enrollment Management.
Data from the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission shows WVU’s fall enrollment has declined the past two years in a row.
The hiring announcement highlighted D’Aloisio’s role in growing enrollment at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville by overseeing recruitment and outreach efforts for first-year students nationally and internationally along with transfer students.
“Fabrizio is a first-generation college graduate with extensive higher education career experience who will bring new energy and clear direction to WVU Enrollment Management,” WVU President Michael Benson said.
