It’s a big weekend for book lovers with the West Virginia Book Festival in Charleston.
It all kicks off at 9 a.m. this Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center. The featured authors are Jayne Anne Phillips, Neal Shusterman, Jeff Shaara, and Rajia Hassib
Festival goers can attend workshops on writing immersive fiction and writing about music, as well as a presentation about the eight Virginia-born presidents.
Children and families are also welcome, with a children’s writer’s workshop, a storybook costume parade and a production of Edgar Allen Poe’s stories and poems.
A used book sale and author’s marketplace will be open throughout the day.
Ahead of the Saturday festival Viet Thanh Nguyen, author of The Sympathizer, a New York Times best seller and winner of the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, presented the McCreight Lecture in the Humanities at the Capitol Theater Thursday night.
