Sens. Carmichael & Prezioso Respond to Issues on Pay Raise Bill, PEIA & Walkouts

Listen

On The Legislature Today, host Andrea Lannom is joined by Senate President Mitch Carmichael and Senate Minority Leader Roman Prezioso to discuss the latest in the issues over teacher pay and the Public Employee Health Insurance Agency.

Teachers and public employees returned to the Capitol after a huge rally over the weekend, when thousands of teachers, school service personnel, and other public employees braved the cold and rain on Saturday afternoon for what organizers dubbed a Day of Action Rally.

A statewide walkout for Thursday and Friday this week was announced by the leadership of two teachers’ unions, over a pay raise bill currently pending before a Senate committee, and a plan to freeze the current plan for PEIA.

Also in this episode, Senior Reporter Dave Mistich joins Lannom onset to discuss the latest House and Senate action.
