A company has agreed to pay a $10,560 fine for water pollution-control violations at the company’s Inwood subdivision.
The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown, Md. reports Ayers & Ayers Holding Co. agreed to a proposed settlement announced Wednesday by the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.
The agency says a 2013 inspection revealed the company failed to properly stabilize ground that had been disturbed by the partially constructed Cedar Heights subdivision near Tabler Station. It noted a lack of appropriate mulching and reseeding and a lack of sediment and erosion-control devices in place
Follow-up inspections in 2014 found that the company had not addressed the violations.
The DEP says the settlement is subject to comments received during a 30-day period that ends June 8.
