State Monies Will Soon Aid Flood Recovery Efforts

On this West Virginia Morning, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has signed a bill to provide $85 million in state funding to help pay for continued flood clean-up and recovery costs. 

The $85 million accounts for 25 percent of the nearly $340 million in total damage caused by the June 23, 2016, flood that killed 23 people. The federal government will pay the rest of the cost.

The number of high school athletes experiencing a major knee injury has risen dramatically over the past 20 years, according to new research. New surgical procedures are permitting many athletes to heal faster and with less pain than before, but as Kara Lofton reports, fixing the injury does not always mean that young athletes can return to play.
