As the toll from the addiction crisis rises, some sixty government bodies around the Ohio Valley are suing companies that make or distribute opioid painkillers. It’s a trend that recalls the legal strategy that led to the landmark tobacco industry settlement. Aaron Payne reports on the search for a legal remedy to the epidemic.
Author Wiley Cash was this year’s Appalachian Heritage Writer-in-Residence at Shepherd University. His newest novel, The Last Ballad is out this week. Liz McCormick sat down with Cash to discuss his latest work. Here’s an excerpt from that interview.
