This week, people continue to resist the Mountain Valley Pipeline. Some folks have complained to the company about noise from compressor stations. Also, why is Appalachia so prone to severe flooding? We spoke with a reporter whose team dug into the data to find out. And, a good blanket will keep you warm on a cold night, but a handmade temperature blanket can convey a message to a loved one.
Congratulations to all those who rose to the STEAM Challenge WV. The response to this challenge was terrific. Winners were selected at random from completed entries at each grade level. It was great fun to see the pictures of students engaged in these STEAM activities. Winning classrooms will receive a cash prize to purchase technology for the classroom.
Stephanie Fryer, a special education teacher at South Man Elementary in Logan County, earned West Virginia Public Broadcasting’s November 2025 Above and Beyond Award. Fryer is known for creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where every child feels valued and supported. She works persistently to meet students’ academic, social and emotional needs.
