House of Delegates Takes Up Education Reform

On this West Virginia Morning, senior reporter Dave Mistich joins host Teresa Wills live to discuss the latest legislative action on education reform in the state House of Delegates.

Also on today’s show, a number of breweries across the state are hosting events as part of Craft Beer Week in West Virginia, which kicked off this past weekend. Corey Knollinger reports that some in the craft beer industry are celebrating new regulations that the state Legislature passed earlier this spring.

And in the latest Inside Appalachia podcast, we hear about how some people have made jobs for themselves in the craft beer and craft spirits industry.

Does the alcohol industry have a place in our future? Craft beer is a growing industry in the country, with more than 7,000 commercial breweries. According to the Brewers Association, craft brewers contributed more than $76 billion dollars to the U.S. economy in 2017 and accounted for more than 500,000 total jobs.

Roxy Todd visited a distillery in Randolph County that’s using an heirloom corn to make whiskey and gin.
