Steven Lee Smith

Steven Lee Smith is the Republican candidate for House of Delegates, District 8. He grew up in Doddridge County and was raised on his grandparents farm in Blandville. He now lives with his wife, Ava on a farm in Oxford. They have three children and three grandchildren.


He graduated from West Virginia University in 1983 with a degree in accounting. In 1987 he graduated from WV Wesleyan with an MBA. His career includes experience in banking, financial services, labor benefits, healthcare, coaching, and small business owner. On July 1, 1990, Smith was appointed as Ameribank Bank President and Ceo selling the bank in 1993. Following that, went to work as a financial advisor for Edward Jones. He later went on to become the CEO of the WV Laborers? benefit plans, including the Pension Plan, the Defined Contribution Plan, and the Health Insurance Company. He has served on health care and financial boards including the West Virginia Investment Management Board. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Doddridge County Health Department and serves on the Board of Integrated Health. He is running unopposed in the general election for West Virginia House of Delegates, District 8.
