Mark R. Maynard

Mark R. Maynard is a Republican state senator representing District 6 in the West Virginia Senate. He is from Wayne County and has served in the Senate since 2015 after defeating a 32-year incumbent. Maynard is a graduate of Marshall University and has a background in automotive retail and small business. He has also been involved in Republican Party activities in Wayne County. Maynard is running for another term in his seat after winning his primary. He beat out Jeff Disibbio, Eric Porterfield and Edwin Ray Vanover. Maynard received 49.7% of the districtwide vote. During the 2026 legislative session, Maynard served as chairman of the Senate Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and was also a member of many other committees, including Finance, Judiciary, and Health and Human Resources. Maynard has focused on water infrastructure in the district. In 2026, he introduced SB 776, legislation calling for increased state oversight of Public Service Districts and requested $76 million for water infrastructure needs in the 6th Senatorial District.
