Gordon Ramey II is the Republican candidate for the West Virginia House of Delegates in District 27 in the 2026 general election. He is from the Huntington area and previously served as Chief of the Huntington Police Department, as an at-large member of the Cabell County Board of Education, and as a retired major in the West Virginia Army National Guard.
Ramey was not on the ballot in the May 2026 Republican primary, which was a two-candidate race between Tyler Bowen and William Caudill; Bowen won, 353 votes to 326. In August 2026 the West Virginia State Election Commission ruled Bowen ineligible to serve because he had moved to Georgia to take a job at Wellstar Children’s Hospital, removing him from the general election ballot. The commission authorized the Wayne County Republican Executive Committee to name a replacement nominee, and the committee selected Ramey, who now appears as the Republican candidate on the Nov. 3 general election ballot against Democrat Ric Griffith.
