George Curtis Barker

George Curtis Barker is a Democratic candidate for the West Virginia House of Delegates in District 31. Barker is from the Chapmanville area and has a long background in education and athletics in Logan County. Barker has worked in Logan County schools and has served as an athletic director at Chapmanville Regional High School. He also has a background as a high school football coach and has been involved with local school and athletic programs for decades. Records show Barker participating in Logan County education activities and professional development programs. He entered the 2026 Democratic primary for House District 31 against fellow Democrat Derrick Pearson. Barker won the May primary with 642 votes, or about 82.6%, and advanced to the general election. He now faces Republican incumbent Margitta Mazzocchi for the District 31 seat. The district includes parts of Boone, Lincoln, and Logan counties. Barker’s campaign has received support from former Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and local labor organizations, according to election coverage.
