Franklin ?Frank? Sturm is the Republican candidate for the West Virginia House of Delegates in District 73. Sturm is from Flemington in Taylor County and is a business owner. He won the Republican primary on May 12, 2026, defeating Taylor County deputy clerk Rob Gallo by 720 votes to 693. Sturm entered the general election after Republican incumbent Bryan Smith decided not to seek another term, making District 73 an open-seat contest. During the primary campaign, Sturm discussed improving Taylor County through job creation, child advocacy, tourism and recreational opportunities. He also emphasized the need for improved roads and more opportunities for families to live and work in the area. His campaign and public appearances have emphasized local economic development and making Taylor County a more attractive place for families and businesses. He will face Democratic candidate Kathleen ?Kit? Ford in the November 3 general election.
