Eugene Michael Chiarelli, also known as Gino Chiarelli, is the Republican candidate in the House of Delegates District 78 election. He is from Morgantown and is currently 31 years old. Prior to entering public service, Chiarelli worked on the front lines as a substance abuse counselor and child protective services worker in Marion County. He currently has a lead role with business development and public affairs at WVU Medicine Children?s Hospital. He is focused on empowering the business community, improving quality of life in Morgantown, advancing healthcare, protecting children, and creating opportunities for families in southeast Monongalia County. He has been a lead sponsor to many bills in the state, including: HB2122 (?sales tax exemption for certain hygiene products and infant products?, HB2380 (?to impose a life sentence on fentanyl dealers?), HB2794 (?Life at Conception Act of 2025?), and more. He will be running against Democratic candidate Michael Wendell for this race.
