David ?Stephen? Green is the Republican incumbent representing West Virginia House of Delegates District 36. Green is from Iaeger in McDowell County. Gov. Jim Justice appointed him to the House in January 2024 after Delegate Anita Hall resigned. Green is a graduate of Concord University and an independent insurance agent. His insurance agency operates three locations and employs 10 people. Green currently serves as an assistant majority leader in the House. According to the West Virginia Legislature, he serves on the Economic Development and Tourism, Energy and Manufacturing, Energy, and Environmental Protection committees. During his time in the Legislature, Green has sponsored legislation involving county school board audits, volunteer fire departments, home-based businesses, school activities and education policy. One of his bills, concerning home-based businesses, was signed by the governor in 2025. Green won the Republican nomination for another term in the May 2026 primary, defeating S.P. ?Pat? McKinney 345 votes to 81. He will face Democratic candidate Katelynn Jordan in November.
