Christopher Allen Claypoole is the Democratic candidate for the State Senate District 2. Claypoole is a native of Monongalia County. He now resides in Mannington in Marion County with his wife. His career consists of experience in commissioned sales and management. He also has experience in the behavioral and mental health field as well as the communications industry. Claypoole was an active member of the Communications Workers for America. Some of his campaign focal points include working to improve public education, specifically updating the state’s school funding formula, maintaining access to health care like Medicaid and PEIA, and improving infrastructure such as roadways, water systems, sewage, broadband internet, and electricity. Another campaign focus is affordability for residents in the current economic state as well as the topic of data centers. Claypoole won the Democratic nomination with an opponent. He will run against the republican candidate Toby Heaney in the November general election for the open Senate District 2 seat.
