Q&A: Director of Academy Award Nominated Film 'Heroin(e)'

Listen

On this West Virginia Morning, reporter Dave Mistich chats with the director of academy award nominated film, Heroin(e). We also hear a story about medical marijuana dispensaries opening in Pennsylvania and the economic impact that could bring.

The film Heroin(e) has been nominated for an academy award for Best Short Documentary. The film follows three women in Huntington, West Virginia, who are working to address the opioid epidemic. Reporter Dave Mistich spoke with filmmaker Elaine Sheldon back in September about the making of the film. You can find the film on Netflix.

Also in this episode, medical marijuana dispensaries are slated to open across Pennsylvania this year. They’ll be selling liquids, pills and creams made by licensed producers in the state. WPSU’s Anne Danahy reports on the economic impact communities are hoping for.
