King is also considered the founding father of environmental justice. That’s the idea that everyone has the same right to be protected from pollution.
But the Trump administration is threatening that legacy. The cuts proposed to the Environmental Protection Agency eliminate the Office of Environmental Justice and grants designed to protect communities of color and low-income residents from getting sick due to environmental exposures.
