Charleston, W.Va. -- March 27, 2014 -- West Virginia Public Broadcasting made significant improvements to how Suddenlink Cable subscribers in Charleston will receive the WV PBS signal.

Until this past week, Suddenlink picked up West Virginia PBS programming "off-air," meaning the cable company used a receiver and antenna to deliver the signal to customers. This type of delivery is fragile and prone to signal interruptions, causing outages and pixelation.

Fans of Celtic Thunder can enjoy one of the group’s concerts this Saturday as they remember the principal singer, George Donaldson, who died unexpectedly this week. Tune in to West Virginia PBS Saturday at 8 p.m. for the Heritage concert which was taped in Poughkeepsie, NY, in front of a live audience in 2010.

Antiques Roadshow is seeking large pieces of furniture located within a 50-mile radius of Charleston, W.Va., to be included in the August 16 event at the Charleston Civic Center.

Lately, many of our viewers, particularly those who are Suddenlink cable customers, are experiencing frequent reception issues with WV PBS. These issues include garbled audio, pictures breaking up and pictures freezing. We sincerely apologize for these irritations.

Friday is the last day to bring new or gently used books to West Virginia Public Broadcasting's three sites as part of the 2014 Happy Valentine's Day Children's Book Drive.

Our offices are located:

West Virginia Public Broadcasting is partnering with The Charleston Gazette, the Children’s Home Society and Read Aloud West Virginia in the 2014 Happy Valentine’s Day Children’s Book Drive.

West Virginia Legislature

West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin will be the first guest on this season of The Legislature Today. He will discuss the recent chemical leak.

The episode will be taped live today, and will air this evening at 6:30 on West Virginia PBS. The show airs Weekdays while the the legislature is in session.
