Wheeling Community Workforce Meeting to Focus on Youth Concerns

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Public Broadcasting and the WALS Foundation are co-hosting a youth-centered community meeting in Wheeling on Thursday, Sept. 27, at 6 p.m. at the First State Capitol Building, 1413 Eoff Street.

 
Discussion at the meeting will center around workforce and economic development, focused on the thoughts and ideas of youth participants.  

 
 
Ohio County Board of Education member Sarah Koegler will moderate the discussion. Several students from local organizations have confirmed.

Adult attendees will include Larry Tackett from West Virginia Northern Community College; Alex Weld from Wheeling Heritage; and Stephanie Bugai, assistant principal and career and technical director of Wheeling Park High School; and Glenn Elliott, mayor of Wheeling.

 
 

Kate FitzGerald, director of education at WVPB, said: “We want to turn the tables and hear from young people and give adults opportunity to ask them questions about workforce challenges they will face when they are ready to go to work.”
